Raster Scanning Posted 6 September , 2003 Share Posted 6 September , 2003 This picture is a bit dark but it shows (I think) German soldiers constructing a hut. The terrain looks mountainous but I have no ideas on possible location etc. It is dated 3-9-16 and has a written caption in German. Can anyone translate and or provide any information for me please? Thanks John.

AOK4 Posted 6 September , 2003 Share Posted 6 September , 2003 According to me it says: Aufbau der Werkstatt 3.9.16. Tag an dem ich auf der Malavia arbeitete. Jan
Guest Pete Wood Posted 6 September , 2003 Share Posted 6 September , 2003 My German is terrible. But I think that translates to: Structure of the workshop 3.9.16. Day on which I worked on Malavia I also can't remember if this means 3rd September, or the 9th March. Hopefully someone else will be able to help. the german Posted 6 September , 2003 Share Posted 6 September , 2003 Hello, I am sorry, I have to correct you Jan. It says: Aufbau der Werkstatt. 3.9.1916 1. Tag an dem ich nach der Malaria arbeitete Building the workshop. September 3rd 1916 [1.] First day I worked, after the Malaria Which means exactly, that it was the first day, he had to work after recovering from Malaria. AOK4 Posted 6 September , 2003 Share Posted 6 September , 2003 Hinrich is correct. Sütterlin can be very difficult to understand, especially if you only have a small text without any context. Jan
