chrisharley9 Posted 1 February , 2006 Share Posted 1 February , 2006 Name: BOWLBY, GEORGE HUBERT Initials: G H Nationality: Canadian Rank: Captain Regiment: Canadian Army Medical Corps Date of Death: 10/11/1916 Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead Cemetery: BROOKWOOD (UNITED KINGDOM 1914-1918) MEMORIAL Having had a look at this chaps entry on the CVWM here I reckon there is a possibility that this chaps ashes were returned to Canada & may be buried at Kitchener. Any comments from any one in that area. All The best Chris

Terry Denham Posted 1 February , 2006 Share Posted 1 February , 2006 I have already looked into this case and there is every chance that his ashes were returned. CWGC are not too stressed where ashes are concerned unless you can actually prove where they are buried. It is quite acceptable for the name to be on a memorial in the meantime. I have passed the info to CWGC Canada but an actual burial location is needed for more action.
