Mates,

Can you help with any details of this officer.

He gained his commision into the Kings Own Royal Lancashire Regt from the AIF (6 LHR) in Dec 1915.

He did his training at Fort Stamford Plymouth with the 3rd Res Bn KORLR during early 1916 and was posted to France joining the 7th Service Bn 56 Bde 19th Div between March and April 1916.

Other then that I could find any more on him other then a note in 1922 that he was Capt CRE South Western Area UK.

Does any one have any info on him or his Bn in France where he may get a mention, is there a reason for the note of CRE as his MIC shows only his service in the KORLR not RE's.

Thanks for any insight

Cheers

MC Citation is Here

Lt. Gordon King Ross, 3rd Bn., R. Lancs. R., attd. 1st Bn.

For gallantry and good leadership ' of his company during the operations east of Verchain, from the 24th October to 2nd November, 1918. During the advance on the 25th and 26th 'October, he formed a defensive flank and under heavy shelling maintained his position until other units came up in line with him. On the 2nd November, he handled his company in a masterly manner, and again did excellent work.

Many thanks Steve,

His AIF personal file which hads these details did'nt mention any awards, so I didn't look.

Glad to see you blokes are on the ball.

What is also strange is having been sent from the 3rd Res Bn to the 7th Service Bn in France, how did he gain this award with 1st regular Bn?

Could it be that when the 7th Bn was disbanded he may have been sent to the 1st Bn?

How did these disbanded Bns sprend there men?

Cheers
