rarpos Posted 29 January , 2006 Share Posted 29 January , 2006 Good Morning All, I have recently come across some WW1 medals that would have belonged to a British soldier. I am acquainted with researching Australian soldiers, but am at a loss knowing where to start with this man. On the rim of two of the medals is only the name, Lieut. D.L.Daly. On the third medal it shows the name plus 3-Nig. R. What does this mean? I would be obliged if I can get some direction that I can research further. Thanks,
John_Hartley Posted 29 January , 2006 Share Posted 29 January , 2006 First of all, click on the link to the Log Long Trail (top left of the page) and read the "research a soldier" section. Should point you off in the right direction John

rarpos Posted 30 January , 2006 Author Share Posted 30 January , 2006 Many thanks to the people who have replied so promptly, and for the very interesting information. The information supplied shows that Lieut. Daly died in Cameroon (Africa) during April 1915. I will try to follow this further. Thanks again. rarpos Posted 31 January , 2006 Author Share Posted 31 January , 2006 Good Morning Again, It appears that this man was part of the "West African Frontier Force" fighting in Cameroon. Can any forum members recommend books, etc. that will give me more information on this fighting? Thanks,
