Hello everyone

I wonder if anybody can help me with the location of these Batteries:Royal Field Artillery 18th Bty April 1915,and the 34th Bty,which I think were attatched to the 3rd Brigade 28th Div.

I am trying to trace the location of both these Batteries during the war,as my friends Grandfather was a gunner in both of these .He survived the war but three of his mates were killed manning the gun, and my friends Grandfather,(Gunner)Thomas Grubb Service Number 34871 34th Bty was wounded when the gun received a direct hit.

Hope someone could help me.

Regards

Andy.

8 am on 22Apr 18 bty were just north of Westhoek.

You will probably be able to see the war diaries of both btys [if theyhave survived] at either or both of the RAHT at Woolwich, and also the bde and div diaries - look at the CRA as well as General Staff

Try also the Canadian sources [see elsewhere on the web for the specific links but let meknow if you get stuck] for online war diaries for this period.

I got the loc for 18 bty from a 28 Div map on the latter.

My grandfather was ina heavy battery a mile north of 18 bty at the same time
