Max (UK) Posted 28 January , 2006 Share Posted 28 January , 2006 I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I've tried looking and couldn't find the answer. Were War/Battalion Diaries kept for Indian Regiments? If so, where can they be viewed, please? I thought that British Officers in India would have kept them like they did in Europe, but I really haven't a clue. Thanks !

zooloo Posted 29 January , 2006 Share Posted 29 January , 2006 If the actual India Corp didn't keep diaries, those around them did. For example the Wiltshire Regiments went to India and Palestine, their diaries are online www.thewardrobe.org.uk/wardiary.php3. They note: "...Wiltshire Regiment TF battalions ...sent to India... ...1917 the 1/4th... ...to Palestine, which is when it commenced a war diary. ...2/4th remained in India ...not ...operational theatre, did not maintain a war diary." zoo
