davidfegga Posted 27 January , 2006 Share Posted 27 January , 2006 Hi All Have just finshed "All Quiet on the Home Front" by Richard Van Emden, and found it fascinating, as Ididn't realise that conditions at home in 17/18 were that bad, with food shortages and industrial unrest etc. I also recently came across an article about returning troops rioting and burning down a police station local to me in1919, (wonder if my Grandad was amongst them?) Are there any more books on this subject that anybody could recommend? Dave
Guest mythago Posted 27 January , 2006 Share Posted 27 January , 2006 You could have a look at 'Blighty: British Society in the Era of the Great War', by Gerard J DeGroot. It was quite good, probably more of a sociological slant than the van Emden. Cas
