Mark Hone Posted 4 September , 2003 Share Posted 4 September , 2003 As part of some work I'm doing in conjunction with the CWGC Education section, I wonder if any Pals researching school rolls of honour could provide a comparison of the numbers killed with the total numbers on roll (if possible for both world wars.). I'm well aware that the numbers are not strictly comparable-the on-roll only gives a figure for the school population at one time whereas the dead may come from a very wide age range (our World War One roll of honour features soldiers aged from 19 to 54). Jonathan Saunders Posted 4 September , 2003 Share Posted 4 September , 2003 Mark I dont know if this will interest you but I have a school that had a Headmaster and two Asst Masters - all three went off to war. Two were kia and the other won an MC with the Coldstream Guards. There were several school-mistresses as well and one of these, lost her only brother.
