Graham Stewart Posted 26 January , 2006 Share Posted 26 January , 2006 Flagstare, The only Black Watch to serve in Ireland was the 3rd(Reserve)Bn,Black Watch, but they didn't actually move to Aghada, Queenstown, Ireland until November 1917. Muerrisch Posted 26 January , 2006 Share Posted 26 January , 2006 Interesting. 3rd [sR] Bns were not intended to be used as formed bodies in a combat role. Did they undertake duty, or were they just a holding unit for soldiers on the way to and from the front? I ask because 3rd [sR] RWF were similarly in Ireland, but rather later.
