Stebie9173 Posted 24 January , 2006 Share Posted 24 January , 2006 Can someone do a check from ODGW for 2/Lt. Eldred William Tack DCM MM (ex CSM 6th Northamptonshire Regiment), 10th Sherwood Foresters attached North Staffordshire Regiment KIA 18 Sep 1918? Does it state what battalion of the North Staffordshire Regiment he was attached to when he died? CWGC hasn't got that last bit of info... Thanks, Steve. Stebie9173 Posted 24 January , 2006 Author Share Posted 24 January , 2006 Thanks, Tim. Strange. I woould have thought he would have been more likely to have been with the 10th Sherwood Foresters than with the North Staffordshires on 18-9-18. The only battalion of the North Staffordshires at the Battle of Epehy was the 1st. Any one got the War Dairy of either battalion? Does 2/Lt. Tack get a mention on that day as a casualty? Steve. Stebie9173 Posted 3 February , 2006 Author Share Posted 3 February , 2006 Great stuff, Mike. Many thanks. It did make more sense for him to be with the Foresters as they were right place, right time. I'm researching some of the 6th Northamptonshires men and he has got several mentions as CSM (and obviously for his MM and DCM) before his commission (27-3-1918). This is our man: (From Northamptonshire and the Great War) Steve.
