eviltaxman Posted 23 January , 2006 Share Posted 23 January , 2006 As some of you know, I collect medals to the name of "Coole".... my paternal grandmothers maiden name, and I've recently (well, today actually) received a BWM/Vic pair with MIC. Not many Coole's served in either war so actually getting my hands on even a single is a miracle. Anyway, the pair I've added to the collection is Pte Harold C Coole, 48831 North Satff Reg. What I'd like to know (from the North Staffs Pals) is from his serial number can you tell which batallion Harold was in? He isn't a KIA/DOW/DOD/MIA/POW etc etc.... so research is that much harder. Once I pin down the Btn, I can get some idea of his service. Unfortunately his MIC doesn't give any hint of much and I can't get to the NA that easily Cheers, Les.
