armourersergeant Posted 1 September , 2003 Share Posted 1 September , 2003 I have just come across this on a book site and wondered if any pals have read it . It appears to be a selection of eleven papers by eminat historians regarding aspects of the first war. Arm.
Bryn_Hammond Posted 2 September , 2003 Share Posted 2 September , 2003 There are at least 4 members of this forum who are members of the British Commission to my certain knowledge so maybe, like me, they should declare that fact if they want to comment on this post! I would still recommend this book anyway. I have a copy and have a high regard for those who wrote the various papers within it - you are right that the writers are generally 'known names'. The essays have useful pointers to other sources of material as well as being well written concise treatments of the subjects. I must add that I get no Commission from the Commission for this recommendation!
Staffsyeoman Posted 2 September , 2003 Share Posted 2 September , 2003 Similarly, I'm a member of the Commission, know several of the writers personally well, and recommend it highly. Like Bryn, no commission or sins of ommission from the Commission on my part either!
