marc glorieux Posted 19 January , 2006 Share Posted 19 January , 2006 Hi, In Westouter (Westoutre) Churchyard and Extension (Flanders) two brothers are buried. They died on the same day (16.09.1917) and share the same grave. In 1917, this local churchyard was used by field ambulances and fighting units. Casualty details (CWGC) Private ROBINSON Charles Fredrick Service N° MS/1566 Rgt: 594th M.T. Coy - Army Service Corps Gunner ROBINSON James Alfred Service N° 81330 Rgt: 12th Bty 35 Bde - Royal Field Artillery Date of death: 16 sept 1917 Sons of Mrs Robinson of Medway Road, Bow, London Kind of a coincidence, two brothers serving in different units, arriving both injured at Westoutre and dying on the same day … If anyone could give me some information about the two brothers and the location of their units during their last days/fights, it would be much appreciated. In advance, thanks Marc PS: a third brother, Robinson William Charles died on 24.08.1916 and is buried at Longueval.
Joris Ryckeboer Posted 19 January , 2006 Share Posted 19 January , 2006 Hi Marc, These brothers are sharing the same grave, both have cemetery register nummer II.A.5. But they have seperated headstones. Grtz! Joris Westouter
greatspywar Posted 6 February , 2006 Share Posted 6 February , 2006 Hello, Maybe the parents wanted their two sons buried next to eachother? But having the same grave... It's a difficult and tricky one! Has anyone any idea of what actions the ACS and RFA might have been involved that day. Could be a coincidence? Or is this a real brotherhood-story? Kind regards, Jan
