Stebie9173 Posted 17 January , 2006 Share Posted 17 January , 2006 Issued with a Silver War Badge because he was discharged from the army through wounds or sickness (usually) The references will refer back to Medal roll books held at the National Archives at Kew which will state some or all of: Date enlisted Date discharged Unit discharged from Cause of discharge (often just W - Wounded or S - Sickness) Steve. PPCLI Posted 18 January , 2006 Share Posted 18 January , 2006 Hi Alex, The D/A/__ medal rolls that I have for KOSB men include all of the info mentioned by Steve. The full information given for the KOSB men (D/A/1645 to D/A/1716) is: Regt. no.; Rank; Surname, Forename; Unit discharged from; SWB no.; Date of enlistment; Date of discharge; Cause of discharge (Wounds, Sickness), K.R.para392__(usually xvi or xvia); Whether served overseas; and Age (at discharge, I assume). n.b. On the D/A/__ rolls I photographed, the 'Unit discharged from' only states the regiment; no specific battalion is given. Battalion info is given in other SWB rolls e.g., T.D. roll. Good luck in your research. Stuart
