Hindoo Stan Posted 16 January , 2006 Share Posted 16 January , 2006 Does anyone have information about the 2nd Infantry Labour Company, Lincolnshire Regiment. When and where it was formed? How large this unit was? Anyone got a brief history, did it go abroad? . I have learnt that in about Feb 1917 it was transferred to the newly formed 41st Company, Labour Corps but I'll leave that one for another post. Thanks Tim. charlesmessenger Posted 17 January , 2006 Share Posted 17 January , 2006 It crossed to France on 11 March 1917 and was transferred to the Labour Corps shortly afterwards. Charles M
Hindoo Stan Posted 22 January , 2006 Author Share Posted 22 January , 2006 Thank you for that Charles. Just bringing this to the top again in case any Lincs Regt experts have any thoughts about this units UK activities. Tim
charlesmessenger Posted 22 January , 2006 Share Posted 22 January , 2006 Tim Infantry Labour companies were not formed until the beginning of 1917 and were shipped to France as soon as they were up to strength, their manpower being drawn from men below medical Category A in the Infantry Training Reserve. Each coy was approximately 500 men strong. Charles M
