I am resesrching the above named soldier who was a Liutenant in the 4th battalion Royal fusiliers at the tiem of his death. I believe he enlisted in the Bedfords and then transferred . can anybody confirm this ?

He died from injuries received on 25th July 1917 and is buried at grevillers British Cemetery. Is anybody abel to confirm what the 4th batalion were doing on this day? polygon Wood ??

I don't think it is Polygon Wood. That should be in September. I will look into the battalion/regiments history tomorrow. I think they were just going into the forntline near Ypres at the time. Let's see what tomorrow brings.

If you haven't got an answer by noon, please pm me.

kind regards,

Jan

By the way: do you have a photo of him?

Kind regards,

Jan

The Royal Fusiliers in the Great War does not record anything for the 4/RF between the actions at Monchy in early May and actions near Lagnicourt from August 8th onwards. Presumably they were in reserve somewhere near Lagnicourt at the time of his wounding.
