My grandfather, Willie Cockcroft (on the left) was a Bandsman in India & then was recalled to serve as a Stretcher Bearer. I think these are his brothers, in the middle Ernie & on the right Harry. The picture was taken in 1914.

They came from Shrewsbury, what info can be gained from the uniforms? I imagined they were in the same unit, but does the kilt suggest not. Or could you opt for a kilt within a unit if you felt entitled?

Thanks

Clive Elliott.
