Can anyone help please with deciphering the attached extracts from the MIC of David Percy Pile of the Army Service Corps.

One attached image shows the medals, Victory Medal and 1914 Star, but what is the line beneath "14 Star"?

second image shows his corps, what is D.S.C. before A.S.C?

third image is from the remarks section - looks like clasp something?

Thanks

Andrew Pile

The line below the 1914 Star indicates that your man had been awarded the Clasp "5th Aug-22nd Nov 1914" to be worn on the aforementioned Star.

It also shows the award of the Rose emblem which was worn on the 1914 Star Medal ribbon to denote he had been awarded the Clasp.

The 'codes' Clasp/2/1428 etc. and IV/2066/C d/17-8-20 Cl.2/1428 are the Army Medal Office reference numbers relating to the issuing of the above, I believe, on the 17th August 1920.

Just a guess...

D.S.C.?

Divisional Supply Column????

I too believe it means Divisional Supply Column, which, if I'm reading and understanding the LLT mother site correctly means:

2nd Divisional Supply Column = 61st ASC Company.

I've looked at the LLT site and found the same, should have looked there first!

Thanks for the medal info, I understand that the clasp was awarded to those who came under fire.

Thanks for your help

Andrew
