minoula Posted 14 January , 2006 Share Posted 14 January , 2006 Hi I have been trying to gather together information on my relative Alfred Edward Walton. Details of my research so far can be found in my previous post: 13th Somerset Light Infantry, many unanswered questions [http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/i...topic=43650&hl= I have downloaded his MIC, in the remarks column the following reference is written: Exta from EF/9/4440 does anyone explain what this means? Also, could the medals he received help me to narrow down which regiment of the Warwicks he served with? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
Pte1643 Posted 14 January , 2006 Share Posted 14 January , 2006 Also, could the medals he received help me to narrow down which regiment of the Warwicks he served with? The medal rolls themselves mostly (But Not Always) state the battalion number. But the code here:... C/2/102B is the medal roll code for the SLI. Sorry, but can't help Re: the code in the remarks section. Mark.
HarryBettsMCDCM Posted 15 January , 2006 Share Posted 15 January , 2006 Extant probably indicating a further Medal Roll [possibly from the other Regiment servied with & just entered to ensure there was no duplication in the Medal issue for Clerical X Reference purposes, remember these cards were for Army Medal Office use not research purposes initially]
