Guest ShirleyM Posted 14 January , 2006 Share Posted 14 January , 2006 Good Afternoon everyone, I am researching my grandfather's first world war service history, and finding it very difficult! Information on his medal card: Personal details as topic description. Then Victory: RFA 230/B and page. War first served in looks liek 1. Fr Date of entry therein: 13.6.15 Would appreciate very much some guidance with further investigations. Kind regards, Shirley
HarryBettsMCDCM Posted 14 January , 2006 Share Posted 14 January , 2006 The date is is date of Embarkation to France{Fr.1} thus he would also be entitled to the 1914~15 Star, which along with the British War Medal would have been granted, are they not marked on the MiC?[bWM is usually marked by :~ " " beneath Victory Medal Entry] If not then I would suggest that there must be a further Card for him[possibly just with initial rather than full forename{s}try searching using Surname & Number only?[or possibly just number in case the Surname is mis~spelt?] Once you have sorted that the Medal Roll pages that the "code" by the name of the Medal on the card can be accquired from the NA {not online} have you tried to obtain his Service Papers They too might exist @ the NA [again not online}
