Remembered Today:

92nd Brigade MGC

My grandfather was in the MGC and I would like to know where on the Somme he was deployed. I'm making some assumptions about his Brigade as he was from Hull -although I have his regimental number (86405), is there somewhere I can check his Brigade?

Sorry if these are basic questions, I'm completely new to this. Reading the rest of the site I'm amazed at the depth of knowledge on here, hopefully someone can help.

Hi, Ian. If you check out the Long, long trail (top left-hand corner of your screen), you'll see they were in the 31st Division, and there's a link there to more. Basically, the 31st Div took part in the attack on Serre on 1st july (and got quite a hammering), and were not back on the Somme sector until the very end, for the attack on the Ancre in November.

No doubt there will be someone popping up with more, so I'll leave it at that.

Good luck with your researches.
