Remembered Today:

Madame Wood monument

Hi all,

I see on my trusty IGN map that there is a monument next to Madame Wood near Bouchavesnes. Can anyone tell me what it commemorates? Is it WWI-related? I want to use it as part of directions I'm giving in a walking tour but, last time I was in France, I didn't note what was on it.

Cheers,

Mat

it's a small, rather forlorn monument to a french soldier and his comrades who died there on the same day. I have a photo somewhere and will try and find it.

G'day Mate

The monument is dedicated to 20 years old Gustave Fumery 132nd RI a French private and of his 150 comrades killed near here on 4th october 1916.

LEST WE FORGET

Cheers

Yves

Thanks for the replies. I'm sure one day there will be a question obscure enough to stump the forum but I haven't come across it yet!
