jgarlo Posted 7 January , 2006 Share Posted 7 January , 2006 (edited) Can anyone tell me any details of the involvement of this unit in Macedonia from 1916 to 1918? The soldier I am trying to trace, Corporal William McGuinness was with them but the CWGC will not acknowledge his death with any sort of memorial. bmac Posted 8 January , 2006 Share Posted 8 January , 2006 There is no history of the 3/RF but O'Neills 'Royal Fusiliers in the Great War' has a separate chapter on the battalion's time at Salonika. can you narrow down the period you are interested in? I should point out that no Corporal William McGuinness is listed in Soldiers Died for the casualties of the 3/RF. Indeed there is only one William McGuinness listed as died in the Balkans and he was with the 6/Royal Dublin Fusiliers (died 3.10.16) and there is only one McGuinness listed with the RF and he was a Henry and was in the 22/RF. and died on the Western Front.
