Will O'Brien Posted 7 January , 2006 Share Posted 7 January , 2006 I know this has been discussed on the Forum before but for the life of me I can't find the thread. I am trying to find out how soldiers from the special Royal Engineers company who dealt with gas were identified. i.e were they badged differently or wore a particular coloured armlet. The answer would be greatly appreciated.
Simon Jones Posted 7 January , 2006 Share Posted 7 January , 2006 During late 1915 and 1916 they wore a striped armband the same colours as the Italian flag. This was probably only worn during operations as an indicator that they were not to be sent over the top and could leave the front line. After 1916 there was no special badge.
