Glenn Warnes Posted 6 January , 2006 Share Posted 6 January , 2006 (edited) Chris As he is remembered at Tyne Cot Cemetery I would say his unit would have been involved in the 3rd Battle of Ypres and possibly the fighting at 2nd Battle of Passchendaele which occured in November 1917. I checked the 'History of the Royal Regiment of Artillery' Western Fromt 1914-1916 but no mention of the 282nd Bde at that time. greatspywar Posted 6 January , 2006 Share Posted 6 January , 2006 Hello Chris, Do you have a photo of him? I will look into the Museums Library on Monday to see what we have on artillery. Kind regards, Jan
rflory Posted 7 January , 2006 Share Posted 7 January , 2006 From 18 October 1917 to 2 November 1917, 282 Army Brigade, RFA was attached to the 58th Divisional Artillery under XVIII Corps. From 26 October to 10 November 1917 the 58th Division was located SW of Langemarck while participating in the 2nd Battle of Passchendaele. Chris Posted 7 January , 2006 Author Share Posted 7 January , 2006 Jan and Dick. Many thanks for the information on the unit location for the date in question, and the offer of a lookup. Below is a picture of Alfred Bowie (at top of picture), from a picture dated 24th Feb 1916. Dick, sorry to ask further but do you have a location for the same unit for Feb 1916 as i am thinking it may be nice to have an idea of where this picture may have been taken. Kind Regards Chris
