royg Posted 5 January , 2006 Share Posted 5 January , 2006 My father served with the 1st. Battalion, Middx.Regt. and was wounded sometime in April 1918. A snipers bullet went through his arm. I have looked at the war diaries of the Regiment and have concluded that he was probably wounded during the battles taking place around Ballieul and Meteren. Would this have been a Blighty wound and would any one know what casualty clearing station he might have gone to ,or what hospital. I also have an old postcard that my father sent to his wife saying that he would be home soon and it is a picture of Tipperary Barracks which I note on your website, was a Command Depot for wounded soldiers. Would the Middx.Regt. be part of the Eastern Command as were accomodated in Tipperary Barracks. He was pronounced fit for normal duties on the day that armistice was declared. I would welcome any information or ideas
