kildaremark Posted 3 January , 2006 Share Posted 3 January , 2006 (edited) Not quite World War 1 but... The Essex Regiment (and Yorkshire) was stationed in Kinsale, Co. Cork in 1921 in a former Coastal Artillery Fort called Charles Fort. Does anyone know was there an artillery presence there - for example a small RGA detachment from Spike Island or Queenstown to maintain artillery pieces. Charles Fort in Kinsale had ceased to operate as an artillery fort in the early 1900s but I wonder if there were still guns there in 1921? Someone with a knowledge of the RGA at Spike island and Queenstown might be able to help me with this one? Thanks Mark Edited 3 January , 2006 by kildaremark
