ressmex Posted 2 January , 2006 Share Posted 2 January , 2006 (edited) I originally thought that the lettering and numbering on a MIC was a serial ( D/105B11 ) but I have recently found a page on the PRO website and it listed called abbreveations as found in ADM 171 D - disharge with disgrace ( see F below ) F - = forfeited - R = run - D = disharge with disgrace. Does this mean the D on the MIC means the above thanks for any help or explination TOM Edited 2 January , 2006 by flagstare
Stebie9173 Posted 2 January , 2006 Share Posted 2 January , 2006 The numbers and letters are the References to the Medal Rolls books, each reference equating to a book and then a page number is given. A book at the NA can convert these in a WO type reference so that you can order the books to view them in the Reading Room. ADM171 is an Admiralty series not a War Office series and the references are completely different. Steve.
