Private William Hill;Regtl; Number 19148;He was in the South Staffordshire Regiment & went Overseas [1] France with them on 29th September 1915,he was later transferred to the Labour Corps {often as a result of Wounding or sickness making him unfit for Frontline service} with the Number 578843 He was finally Discharged to the Reserve Class "Z" [The Number & Letter codes after each Medal Listing are the Medal Roll Page References which can be used to access them @ the NA{Not Online}]

The "x" with dots above & below by South Stafford @ the top of the MiC are indicating that is the Detail to be impressed onto the Medals, which were 1914~15 Star;British War Medal & Allied Victory Medal

Thank you so much, he lost an eye in the war so that would explain why he was transferred. Thanks again
