Guest larkenp Posted 1 January , 2006 Share Posted 1 January , 2006 Cecil John Robins (T265247) of The Buffs was killed in action on or about the 2nd August 1918 and is buried Abecle Aerodrome Military Cemetery Watou Poperinge West Vlaanderen Belgium. Grave no. 11.C.16. I would like to try and establish what Battalion, Company, Platoon he served in and what action lead to his death. I believe he was station (in action) at Zonnebeke - Belgium at the time of his death. Any information gratefully received.

Michael Posted 2 January , 2006 Share Posted 2 January , 2006 He was a member of the 1st Battalion. On 2nd August 1918 C Company and 7 Platoon of B Company carried out a raid on German trenches to identify and capture prisoners. They were in front of Scottish Wood. Three other ranks died of wounds and 13 were killed. Are you sure he was killed in action? Abeele seems a long way to be bringing bodies back.
