Hi everyone,

I downloaded this MIC today and i'm having bother reading the notes in the remarks section. There is a similar note on the 14 star card, i think its something to do with the wrong name in the victory medal. Any ideas anyone?

Barrie

By the way, the name should be Gardiner, not Gadiner. Its spelt correctly on the 14 star MIC.

"?Surname~Medals issued No action unless Medals returned~12A x"

In other words the Medal issuing office recognised/were informed of; the Naming error but were not going to do anything unless the Medals were returned!

The 1914 Star card being completed 1st was correct, somehow when the BWM/Victory was due for issue the original card wasn't used{probably as the Clerk responsible thought it should read "Gadiner"}& a new card was completed.

That makes sense to me, cheers.

There is a similar note on the other MIC, and also what looks like a date in a circle underneath - 8/4/52 Maybe the medals got sent back for re-naming? I'll scan the other MIC when I go back to work because there are some other notes on it that I dont understand.

Thanks,

Barrie
