Does any one know the colour of the lanyard this unit wore....I've seen a photo of a private from this unit who appears to be wearing a white one.....well in a black and white photo!

I have a number of WW1 photos of the 6th liverpools ( liverpool Rifles ) In some lanyards are being worn and in others they arent. The lanyards are dark in colour certainly not white. In pictures of the 3/6 battalion they are being worn on the right shoulder. In other photos ( battalion not known) they are being worn on the left shoulder.

When transfered to R.E. and later R.A. the battalion introduced a twisted cord lanyard of which I have an example ( 2 green cords to one of red ) to reflect their rifles origin.

Hopefull others can add further information
