Marco Posted 23 August , 2003 Share Posted 23 August , 2003 Pardon my ignorance, but is there a fool-proof way to distinguish a RFC/RAF pilot and a motor dispatch rider when not in/on their mode of transport? Both have a helmet, goggles, and a lether jacket/coat without markings. What are the blokes on display at Albert and IWM London? TIA! Guest Ian Bowbrick Posted 23 August , 2003 Share Posted 23 August , 2003 Marco, The leather coats worn by Pilots was usually thickly lined to cope with the cold at altitude. In addition many piolts wore a long leather coat no practical for motorcycles. Same goes for the leather helmet being lined. I am sure other also have ideas. Oh yeah - another way is look at the uniform underneath to spot the pilots wings Ian
