Graham Stewart Posted 18 December , 2005 Share Posted 18 December , 2005 PJM, The Northumberlands actually had 52 Battalions that were war raised units, the 38th Bn is the one often missed out as it lasted less than 17days. On top of which we have two 1919 raised battalions the 39th & 40th which were used as battlefield clearance units and then there were the five Volunteer Battalions of the Northumberland Volunteer Regiment which were affiliated to them in July 1918.
