Remembered Today:

'Visiting patrol'

I've come across a reference to an infantry platoon having to mount 'visiting patrols' and 'listening patrols' - I know what the latter is but has anybody a good definition of a 'visiting patrol'.

I don't think it involved 'visiting' the enemy, my guess is that it involved the platoon commander going round his sections.
