candoit Posted 17 December , 2005 Share Posted 17 December , 2005 Could anyone suggest where I could find information about this photo of my Grandfather Alexander Cameron. He is in full kilt and there are some tents behind him. I gather he was in a war somewhere but I need help to identify where it could have been. World War 2. Someone has suggested Cameron Highlanders, but where did they go and can anyone put a rank to the uniform. Born 1903 Liverpool, Lancashire. I just love this photo, but would also like some history to go with it. Thank you Kristina Cameron
pbrydon Posted 18 December , 2005 Share Posted 18 December , 2005 It looks like he is in the Liverpool Scottish ( 10 Kings Liverpools ) I suggest is it worth contacting th Museum of liverpool Life or the liverpool Scottish Museum to see if they have any details in their databases Peter Brydon
pbrydon Posted 18 December , 2005 Share Posted 18 December , 2005 After further consideration, I think this is a picture taken at an interwar camp.Alexander Cameron would only have been 11 in 1914 and 15 in 1918. Cant quite make out if the glengarry badge is 10th Kings or Liverpool Scotitish ,Cameron Highlanders which would make it post 1937. I have some very similar photos of Liverpool Scottish soldiers taken in the late 1930s If you contact Dennis Reeves curator of the Liverpool Scottish Museum ( contact number on their web site ) I am sure he will help if he can P.B.
