Just to add that the three of them enlisted in Manchester.

Edward Oldham's Military Medal was announced in the London Gazette of 8-8-1916.

20247 Pte. E. Oldham, Manch. R.

http://www.gazettes-online.co.uk/archiveVi...&selHonourType=

No citations were publsihed for MMs. Most of these awards are a mystery as to when and how they were won. It is possible that they are mentioned in Regimental Histories, Local Papers and a general acknowledgement of the award in the unit war diary.

The usual delay between winning the award and being published in the Gazette was often 3 months but could vary by a couple of months either way. (March-July 1916 seems a reasonable "window")

The Military Medal only came into existence in March 1916 so some of the earlier issues of the Gazette were "playing catch-up". (8th August 1916 is the 2nd list of MMs published. Well technically the 3rd but there were only two on the first "list")

Steve.
