Steve Bramley Posted 14 December , 2005 Share Posted 14 December , 2005 Stephen, They have (i think) a full set of the Ruhleben camp magazines in Grimsby local studies section of the library. And at least two books about the camp. There is of course a strong local interest as several trawlers and their crews were interned at Ruhleben at the outbreak (I think they were in Bremerhaven, now Grimsby's twin town!). The publications are of a very high standard considering and a very interesting read for any interested parties. They actually had a football league going Steve. Doug Johnson Posted 15 December , 2005 Share Posted 15 December , 2005 Assuming this thread is about PoW football, some pics for interest; The photographs date from early 1916 and are from Gustrow PoW camp Ruhleben was a special camp for civilians both internees and those captured later. Amongst those there were several well educated people such as university professors etc and a being there was like being at a university. The only drawback, apart from being prisoners, was the heating or lack of it.
