Terry Posted 21 August , 2003 Share Posted 21 August , 2003 This may have been discussed before, but perhaps one of our UK members can help. I have five POW groups to Canadians, and because their files are obtainable I know exactly when they were captured and where they were held. Is there anything similar for UK POW's? I have seen a 1914 POW group and I assume that the fellow was captured fairly early on, but can the date of capture (exact or approximate) be obtained anywhere? Michael Posted 22 August , 2003 Share Posted 22 August , 2003 There is a file in the PRO ref wo161 with interrogation reports of POW's on their return. Michael

Michael Yes Mick, but it is very selective isn't it mate. I have had better results cross checking war diaries, medal rolls and service records particularly in the case of ORs (the lads). Michael Posted 22 August , 2003 Share Posted 22 August , 2003 Yupp, WO161 contains some interesting reports but if you look at the strike rate in the thread 'POW look-ups', you'll see that its pretty low. Mick
