Plan Posted 12 December , 2005 Share Posted 12 December , 2005 I would like to know why my uncle moved from the Gordon Highlanders around 1907 So far as I know he died in France in 1918 Grateful for any directions Bert Boyd In 1917, when he enlisted in the CEF, your uncle was living in the united state (Dorchester, Mass, USA). He belonged to the Gordon Higlanded for 7 years. He enlisted in Montreal (probably) June 1, 1917. His attestation papers are here Click on the two "text page" icons to see them. You will find the war diaries of his unit here. Pascal
Plan Posted 12 December , 2005 Share Posted 12 December , 2005 Further, here is entry in the Veteran memorial site. Note that they accept photographs of the veteran. And the memorial book page where he appears, right hand column, about half-way. Pascal

Bert Boyd Then be aware that birth dates on attestation are very often incorrect. The fact they don't match does not necessarly mean it's not the same man. But obviously that possibility cannot be discounted either. Pascal
