ffau0577 Posted 12 December , 2005 Share Posted 12 December , 2005 I am researching a John Faulkner. His Medal Roll shows "theatre of war first served in as (2b) Balkins and date of entry therain 30.9.15" Would this mean he took part in part of the Gallipoli Campaign? Graham Stewart Posted 12 December , 2005 Share Posted 12 December , 2005 (edited) Fred, What's this lads regimental number?, as he either could be a reinforcement to the 8th Bn,N.F., which were in Gallipoli or possibly he was with the 2nd Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers sailing for Salonika and then serving in Macedonia, although the 28th Division didn't actually sail until October 1915. Graham Stewart Posted 12 December , 2005 Share Posted 12 December , 2005 Fred, Wouldn't happen to be 18324 Pte J.Fualkner of Walsall, Staffs or Wolverhampton would it? I haven't got a battalion for him at present, but know he was recorded as being wounded in the March and December 1917 regimental journals. Best bet is his Medal Roll Sheet since MIC's don't tell you a great deal. Graham.

gericht 1914 Posted 13 December , 2005 Share Posted 13 December , 2005 Just an insignificant point, Fred - the Northumberland Fusiliers didn't become "Royal" until 1935. D.
