ROYAL WARWICKSHIRE REGIMENT

Is there anyone out there who has read or heard of an old soldier ( my grandad) by the name of BERNARD INSTONE. He was Sergeant(I think) in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment and on 05/01/1918 he became a 2nd Lt and transferred to the Royal Flying Corps/RAF. I am also trying to trace his brother Leonard who I believe was in the same regiment.I have the medical card for B.Instone and the reference to him from the London Gazette.

These are the Medal Cards of Bernard and Leonard Instone of the Warwickshire Regiment.

They are of course not guaranteed to be right soldiers but the names are rare enough to be reasonably safe in the assumption... (provided that they served overseas)

The only other Leonard Instone on the Medal Index Card (MICs) is a Coldstream Guard who was killed in 1915, son of Louis and Constance Instone of Hull. The only "L Instone" is Edwin L Instone who is Edwin Lloyd, also KIA.

They cost £3.50 each to download. (They come on a sheet of 6 in PDF format - You have to just look at your man and ignore the other 5)

They will tell you what medals they were entitled to and probably some extra information.

If you look at the link to the Long, Long Trail at the top of the Forum, there is a section on the cards and how to interptret them.
