Hambo Posted 7 December , 2005 Share Posted 7 December , 2005 I have been researching this man who is on my local memorial and I am confused by the CWGC entry http://www.cwgc.org/cwgcinternet/casualty_...casualty=857955 It says he was with the 3rd battalion of the DLI with a secondary regiment being the Wiltshires, then it says attached to the 2nd battalion. Is that the 2nd DLI or the 2nd Wilts? In ODGW it says he was attached to the Wilts. Which unit should I be looking for to find details of his death? Hope you can help Hambo
Bob Coulson Posted 8 December , 2005 Share Posted 8 December , 2005 3RD DLI would have been a home based battalion providing drafts for the units at the front, I think from there he was attached to 2nd Wiltshires for service in F&F. Bob.
Hambo Posted 8 December , 2005 Author Share Posted 8 December , 2005 Thanks Bob That makes sense. Can it be assumed that because he was from the 3rd that he was a recalled reservist? Hambo
