Swni Posted 6 December , 2005 Share Posted 6 December , 2005 I have recently been informed that when a soldier was killed his wife or mother would receive a pension of a shilling per week. Does anyone know if this is correct and would there be details of this pension anywhere? Regards Sue
Terry_Reeves Posted 6 December , 2005 Share Posted 6 December , 2005 Sue THe National Archive holds documents relating to servicemen's widows pensions in PIN 85-89 and PIN 15/184. I do not know the scope of these though. Terry Reeves

Charles Fair Posted 13 December , 2005 Share Posted 13 December , 2005 PIN 82 contains a sample of widows pension award forms WF 25 - I think it is about 1 % of the pensions awarded. There are 182 files each containing about 60 forms. Each soldier has one page, though occasionally you find death certificates in there too. You can search for individuals in PIN 82 on PROCAT. There is an example of the form on the Army Forms thread. Charles
