Here's John Hewson's medal card (download page)

Medal card of Hewson, John

Corps Regiment No Rank

Cheshire Regiment 243638 Private

The actual Medal Index Card costs £3.50 to download from the national Archives. This will tell you what Campaign medals he was issued.

The number he was issued actually applies to the 5th Battalion Territorials so presumably he was transferred to the 10th Battalion some time between March 1917 when these numbers were issued and the date of his death later in the year.

Steve.
