This is a copy of the medal card for my great grandfather John Hogan. He was a gunner in the Royal Garrison Artillery,299th Siege Regiment. he died 24 June 1917.

Hoping someone can tell me any info that the card gives( i dont understand the army codes) the bottom entry on the left side " SGT " does this mean he was a sergeant? i really have no idea?

Many thanks

Not much information I'm afraid.

Entitled to Victory Medal and British War Medal.

Therefore must have arrived in a theatre of War after 1st January 1916.

Rank of Gunner.

I've no idea where 299 Siege Battery served.

A posting in Units and Formations with Artillery in the title will probably draw the attention of our Artillery men.

Steve.
