Remembered Today:

7th Canadian Siege Battery

Where was the 7th Canadian Siege Battery based in October 1917 please? I have seen a reference that has a member moving from perhaps Codford in Wiltshire (where I didn't think Canadians were based) to Folkestone.

A Google search yielded very little, save to an implication that the battery was overseas at this time.

The 7th Canadian Siege Battery were part of 1st Canadian HAG who were U Group within the Northern Double Group, 8 Corps Heavy Artillery and were designated U6.

Their 4 X 8” Howitzers were positioned at C 30d 06.50 with the call sign F.H.P.

This map reference would place them about 500 yards from the centre of Verlorenhoek on the road to Zonnebeke.
