Pte Baldwin - the family's view

As some of you will know I posted a thread on Saturday concerning a soldier who was discharged through having a scrotal hernia. Some people on this forum took exception to this.

This evening I spoke to Pte Baldwin's great-grandson, who had asked me to do the look-up on him and I told him of the reason behind his relative's discharge and what has transpired since. Far from being upset or offended, Mr Baldwin thought the whole episode extremely funny and it appeared to answer a question concerning something his family pulled his leg about for years. To quote him 'I always wondered why the old man was known as the Chinaman!!!'.

I trust this closes the matter.
