Guest Sara Hodsman Posted 30 November , 2005 Share Posted 30 November , 2005 My great uncle Lieut H S Barnes was killed in action at the 2nd Battle of Arras in April 1917. He enlisted straight from school as a Lieut. in September 1914. I have extracted all I can from the National Archives but am curious that he was not promoted if nothing more because of the sheer number of casualties and his time in the field.
