Another long shot - I am trying to track down a history for this unit which covers the pre-1916 period. I have found the unit history for 1916 onwards but no luck with the earlier period.

Thanks

Martin

the regimental chronicles have a wealth of information and there are histories for some of the specific battalions.

Is there anything particular you are interested in?

Brian – thanks for getting back to me. The second battalion had a Second Lieutenant Cecil Hurst – Brown (a family member) serving with it. He was wounded at Givenchy on the 25th Sept 1915 and died the next day. He was the second of two sons to die within three months of each other – a tragedy which sent their mother insane. Any information I could get from the records about his role in the fighting or how he met his end would be very gratefully appreciated by the family.

Thank you Martin

Martin,

Checking the National Archives online catalogue , I found the following reference:

Reference WO 305/482 contains the diary of 2 Bn Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry.

The dates given are these: 1909 Jan - 1914 Aug 1919 June - 1940 Dec

Hope this can be of help.

Gloria
